Jana Wallace, Chief Executive Officer of Panhandle Telephone Cooperative, Inc. and its subsidiary Panhandle Telecommunication Systems, Inc., has been announced as the 2023 OPSU Commencement speaker. With her extensive leadership experience and dedication to empowering the next generation, Wallace promises to inspire and guide the graduating class toward a prosperous future.
OPSU’s selection of Jana Wallace as the commencement speaker reflects the university’s commitment to inviting influential leaders who embody the values and principles of success. Known for her transformative leadership style and entrepreneurial spirit, Wallace has demonstrated remarkable achievements throughout her career, making her an exceptional role model for graduating students.
With over 29 years of service at PTCI, Wallace is a seasoned executive in the telecommunications industry. She is involved in advocacy and policy efforts through active roles on several boards, including the board of OTA, the Oklahoma Rural Telecommunications Coalition, the Rural Broadband Association Innovation and Business Opportunity, and Smart Rural Community Committees. She also served as president of the Oklahoma Rural Broadband Association, and the National Rural Wireless Association, and is past president of the Panhandle Regional Economic Development Coalition, Inc.
Wallace graduated from OPSU in 1996 with a degree in business administration. She and her husband, Monte, have three children: Grayson, Gannon, and Greer.
As the fifth generation of her family to call the Oklahoma Panhandle home, Wallace has a deep sense of pride and respect for the people and accomplishments of our region.
“I am deeply honored to have been chosen as the commencement speaker for OPSU’s 2023 graduation ceremony,” said Wallace. “Graduation is a significant milestone in the lives of these talented individuals, and I am eager to share insights, lessons, and inspiration that can guide them on their journey toward success. OPSU has a rich history of producing exceptional graduates, and I have no doubt that this year’s class will continue that tradition.”
The OPSU graduation ceremony, scheduled for May 12 at 9am at Anchor D Stadium, will be a momentous occasion for students, families, faculty, and the community. Wallace’s presence and address will undoubtedly add a touch of distinction and inspiration to the event as the graduating students prepare to embark on their professional endeavors.
