Second Annual Guns N Hoses Event Oct. 20 at OPSU

Goodwell, Okla.—Seeing such great response at last year’s inaugural event, Coach Russell Gaskamp and the Panhandle State football team are taking things to another level for this year’s Guns N Hoses game.

Held in conjunction with the Aggies’ SAC matchup against Arizona Christian on Saturday, Oct. 20, this First Responders Appreciation Day will kick off at 12:30 p.m. in the tailgate zone. Police, fire fighters and emergency medical technicians from across Texas and Cimarron Counties will go head-to-head in a friendly obstacle course-style, tough-man competition. Fans can cheer on these local heroes as they compete for the prized traveling trophy which will be awarded to the winning team during a pre-game recognition of all our area’s proud first responders.

There will be emergency vehicles on hand for children and guests to take pictures in and the Goodwell Fire Department has a fun Bunker Race planned for kids in the tailgate zone. The Guymon Fire Department Honor Guard will present the colors for the National Anthem at midfield just before kickoff, and fans will be treated to a special delivery of the game ball by prior to the coin toss.

Head Coach Russell Gaskamp is extremely excited to be able to shine the spotlight on these great men and women who serve and sacrifice for the betterment of our community. “Myself and Aggie Athletics are so honored to be able to put on this, now annual, event for all those who take care of our families on a daily basis,” Gaskamp stated. Adding, “These individuals perform their jobs with integrity and respect for our community, and Panhandle State is forever grateful to all the first responders in Texas County, the State of Oklahoma and all the United States.”

Gaskamp invites friends, fans and families to come out and show their support for our first responders next Saturday, and to help cheer on their Aggies against a top-ranked conference opponent. The tailgate zone opens at 11 a.m. and is sure to be a fun and festive atmosphere right up until game time. Fans will also be treated to a special pre-game performance and halftime show by the Little Aggies Cheerleaders, who will learn their routines Friday evening in a special camp hosted by the Panhandle State Cheer Team. The day’s events are proudly sponsored by Great American Ford Lincoln in Guymon.
