Goodwell, Okla.—Panhandle State’s freshman outfielder Jewell Lee received national recognition as she was named to the 2018 NAIA Softball All-America Second Team and to the 2018 NFCA NAIA All-Region First Team.
The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) released the All-America rosters Friday morning, with Lee listed among seven other players from the Sooner Athletic Conference. In all, 17 SAC athletes landed on the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Region rosters; Lee represented Region IV along with ten other SAC athletes (the remaining six stand in Region III).
The centerfielder from Yukon, Okla. ranked within the Top 20 of the conference standings for Fielding Percentage (.963) and was the SAC’s No. 1-ranked hitter with a batting average of .456 for the season. She ranked sixth in the nation for Total Hits (88) and finished first in the conference for Triples with six.
Lee collected two Aggie of the Week awards during her inaugural season and received All-Conference honors, named to the SAC First Team All-Conference Softball roster in May. Her efforts helped the Aggies take their first post-season appearance in ten years and led the team to their best record (26-32) since 2002.
Head Coach Meghan Mulcahy reveled with pride, “I am beyond proud of Jewell [Lee] and her accomplishments this year. She is a player who holds herself to the highest of standards, and it shows in her performance. Jewell is more than deserving of this recognition; and with the experience she has gained this season, I am excited to see what she can accomplish in the future.”
