PBL Set for State Conference

Goodwell, Okla. — It is no secret that the classroom is not the only place that students learn during their college career, and the 16 students traveling to Mid-America Christian University in Oklahoma City on Friday, April 20 – Saturday, April 21 for the Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) State Leadership Conference are soon to experience one great learning environment first- hand.

Panhandle State students are set to compete in over 30 different events with the largest group PBL advisors have taken to the conference since 2014. Junior Brian Martinez is running for state office as well.

A new development for the group this year is the administering of students’ objective tests (100-question, multiple choice tests) on the Panhandle State campus prior to the Conference. Any event with a performance component, for example Job Interview and Accounting Analysis and Decision Making, will still be conducted at the Conference. Because the majority of tests are being done on the Panhandle State campus, students will have the opportunity to participate in more workshops while at the Conference. Additionally, some new activities have been added, such as Trivia Showdown and Biz Bowl, which more students can now compete in with a more open schedule.
