66th Annual Beef Bull Performance Test Results

Goodwell, Okla. — The bulls on the 66th Annual Oklahoma Panhandle State University Performance Test at Goodwell, Okla. were weighed off test Saturday, January 27, 2018. In preparation for the February 19th sale, the bulls will be measured for frame score, scrotal circumference and evaluated on semen quality. They have been scanned for fat thickness, rib eye area and intramuscular fat. The bulls ended up with an average daily gain (ADG) of 4.59 pounds and a weight-per-day-of age (WDA) of 3.30 pounds. The top 70 of these bulls will sell in the 66th Annual Bull Sale Monday, February 19, 2018 at 1 p.m. in Goodwell. The sale will be held in the England Activity Center at the University Farm with Matt Sims as the auctioneer.

The top gaining bull on test is a senior age bull consigned by B&M Angus of Edmond, Okla. This bull, a son of B&M Upshot 304, had an ADG of 7.41 pounds and a WDA of 3.40 pounds. The next four top senior age bulls are B&M Angus bulls sired by the B&M Upshot 304 sire. Their ADG’s were 6.45, 6.35, 6.25 and 6.21, respectively. In the senior age pen division, B&M Angus had the top three pens with ADG’s of 6.31, 6.10 and 5.71 pounds, respectively. Al Rutledge of Stillwater, Okla. had the fourth top senior pen with an ADG of 5.48 pounds on three Angus bulls. Sires represented are GAR Sure Fire, GAR Anticipation and GAR Early Bird.

B&M Angus also had the top gaining junior age bull on an ADG of 5.83 pounds. The bull is a son of B&M Upshot 304. William Gilmore of Canyon, Texas had the second ranked junior with an ADG of 5.65 pounds on a son of JAF 545 Tradition. Another B&M Angus bull, a son of B&M Upshot 304, is third with an ADG of 5.63 pounds.

B&M Angus has the top pen of junior age bulls with an ADG of 5.38 pounds and a WDA of 3.44 pounds. All three bulls are sons of B&M Upshot 304. Al Rutledge’s pen of three Angus ranked second on an ADG of 4.63 pounds. Clarence Frey of Mulhall, Okla. has the third ranked junior pen on an ADG of 4.62 pounds and a WDA of 3.74 pounds. Exar Upshot 0562B, TC Dollar Up 5154 and SAV Bruiser 9164 are the sires represented. Phil Light’s pen of five Angus bulls sired by Stucky In Sure 4120 is in fourth place with an ADG of 4.40 pounds and a WDA of 3.52 pounds.
