Michael Jones

Mike Jones was born in October of 1948, the second child and only son of Lloyd and Dorothy Jones. Graduating from Goodwell High School in 1966, he commenced classes at PAMC. In 1970, Mike received his BS in agronomy from the renamed Panhandle State College. While in college, Mike played basketball three years and baseball for one year, and was the Distinguished Military Graduate in his class.

Following graduation, Mike received a commission in the United States Army. He would attend airborne school, ranger school, and helicopter flight school. While serving in the Army, Mike met and married Mary Gilpin in Elizabethtown, Ky., in 1972.

Following his discharge from the Army in 1977, Mike returned to Goodwell and OPSU for a year of pre-veterinary classes. Mike was admitted to Oklahoma State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 1978, and graduated in 1982. He currently owns and operates Midway Veterinary Clinic in Brandenburg, Ky., and his wife, Mary, is his office manager.

Mike and Mary are members of the First Capital Christian Church in Corydon, Ind., where Mike is an elder. They are also life members of the Panhandle State Association of Alumni and Friends. They have two children, Meredyth (1976) and Mark (1979).

Following in her father’s footsteps, Meredyth earned her DVM from Oklahoma State and is currently a resident in food animal medicine at OSU. Mark is a graduate of Asbury College with a degree in Christian ministries. He married Amber Everhart and the couple resides in Vine Grove, Ky. In the future, Mark and Amber are planning to engage in ministry work overseas.
