Barbara (Jones) Cunningham
Barbara is the middle child of Lloyd and Dorothy Jones. She graduated from Goodwell High School in 1974 and attended OPSU for one semester before joining the United States Army. She met her husband, Rodney Cunningham, while stationed in South Korea. Rodney had some time left in the service when they returned from Korea so they were stationed near Savannah, Georgia, and their first daughter, Jennifer, was born there.
After a brief time in Michigan, where Rodney grew up, the Cunninghams returned to Goodwell and both attended OPSU. During that time their second daughter, Sara, was born. They received their degrees in May, 1981—Barbara with a degree in psychology with a minor in sociology and Rodney with a degree in industrial arts. Their third daughter, Carey, was born just a month later in 1981.
Like her mother before her, Barbara is employed by the U.S. Postal Service (in Guymon) and Rodney drives semi-tractor rigs for Indian River Transportation. Barbara’s passion is reading and Rodney is an avid NASCAR fan. Both Barbara and Rodney are members of the Panhandle State Association.
After graduating from Goodwell High school, Jennifer Cunningham attended the University of Oklahoma, where she graduated with a B.A. in the Classics. She received her M.A. from the University of Georgia and now teaches in Arizona. Sara attended Northwestern Oklahoma State University where she met her husband, Steve. They both graduated in 2002. Sara is a social worker and Steve is a police officer. They have one child, Dalen.
Cary earned her BBA in business administration and computer information systems from OPSU in 2003. She works for Bank of the Panhandle and is married to Dustin Buehrer. Dustin graduated from OPSU in May, 2005, and has recently been hired as an Ag teacher in Pleasanton, Texas.
