Specific application requirements

First-Time Freshman Student

OPSU encourages all students to apply for admission because we individually review each application for holistic and alternative admissions programs.

Assured Admissions
Students qualify for assured admission if they meet one of the following criteria:

  • 2.7 GPA or better unweighted cumulative and top 50% rank in high school graduating class
  • 20 ACT /940 SAT or better
  • 2.7 GPA or better in 15 unit core*

Home study or Unaccredited High Schools:
Graduates must satisfy the curricular requirements and have either a 940 or 20 ACT score. Grade-point average and class rank are not used to evaluate students who fall under either category.

*15-Unit Core Curricular Requirements:
4 units of English (Grammar, Composition and Literature); 3 units of Mathematics (Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II and above); 3 units of History and Citizenship Skills (Must include 1 unit of American history and 2 units from the subjects of history, Economics, Geography, Government, Civics and/or Non-Western Culture); 3 units lab science (Biology, Chemistry, Physical Sciences, Physics or any lab science certified by school district) and 2 units of other courses selected from any of the sections above or computer science or foreign language.

Transfer Student

Prerequisites:
Graduation from an accredited high school. Minimum 2.0 college GPA (4.0 system).

  • Official Transcript(s) From Each College or University Attended
  • Official High School Transcript

Re-admitted student

Prerequisites:
If the student is not in good academic standing when he/she left OPSU, student must have earned a higher GPA at all schools subsequently attended.

Required Documents:
Official transcript(s) from all colleges or universities attended since leaving OPSU.

Entrance Exam:
None

Concurrent Enrollment Student

Special Non-Degree Seeking Student

Prerequisites:
None.

Required Documents:
Allows a student to enroll up to nine credit hours without submitting academic credentials or meeting the academic curricular or performance requirements.

Entrance Exam:
If students wish to enroll in an English, math, reading, science or history course, they must submit copies of their ACT scores and copies of all transcripts.

All paperwork must be directed to the Academic Records Office. Paperwork may be mailed to PO Box 430, Goodwell, OK 73939 or faxed to 580-349-1371, Attn:Academic Records Office.

Oklahoma Panhandle State University reserves the right to withhold registration privileges from students with unpaid college financial obligation.
