Foundation Scholarships

OPSU Foundation Scholarships

These scholarships are available for students who plan to attend OPSU full-time in 2024-2025. Use this list in conjunction with the Panhandle State Foundation Scholarship Application. The deadline to submit an application is February 15. Availability and scholarship amounts are subject to change. The award email will state the accurate scholarship amount.

Panhandle State Foundation is a 501 (c)3 charitable organization that benefits OPSU. Foundation scholarships are created and funded by generous donors consisting of OPSU alumni and friends, local clubs, and area organizations.

Accounting

  • Panhandle Chapter of the OSCPA: Open to Jr. or Sr. Accounting major wit a min. 3.0 GPA who graduated from a high school in the Oklahoma Panhandle.
  • Toni Lee Collingsworth Memorial Scholarship (2): Open to U.S. citizen and female student majoring in Accounting to acquire Bachelor of Science with a min. 4.0 GPA from Oklahoma, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas, Texas, or New Mexico.

  • Open to So., Jr. or Sr. in Agriculture

Dr. James A. Countryman Scholarship

  • Open to Jr. or Sr. who plans to attend a veterinary medicine school. Must have a minimum 3.5 GPA. Attach a letter stating need and community service.

Dr. Estes Firestone Memorial

  • Open to Jr. or Sr. Animal Science majors. Preference to meat option.

Dr. John W. Goodwin Memorial

  • Open to Freshmen with a min. 23 ACT or 3.0 GPA. Preference to Ag-Business or History majors. Preference to graduates of high schools within 250 mile radius of OPSU. Attach statement of merit and need. Renewable if 3.0 GPA is maintained and must reapply each year.

Ferrell “Ted” Smith

  • Open to student majoring in Animal Science, Agronomy or another Ag based degree. Must have 2.5 GPA or better. Preference to Cimarron County graduates or graduates of 120 mile radius of OPSU. Preference to former or current 4-H members and/or FFA members. Attach statement including need, community service and memberships.

Guthrie Scottish Rites Foundation (2)

  • Open to Jr. or Sr. from the five-state area. Must be majoring in an Ag based degree and in need of financial assistance.

Howard Warren Memorial

  • Open to Sophomores with min. 2.5 GPA. Preference to Animal Science or Nursing. Preference to residents or high school graduates of Cimarron County.

James T. Wright Agronomy (2)

  • Open to student majoring in Agronomy.

Jim Quinn Ecology & Natural Resources

  • Open to Jr. or Sr. majoring in Agronomy or Biology with a career interest in ecology and/or natural resources management; min. 3.0 GPA required. Attach letter stating career preparation (courses, work experience), citizenship, and non-academic activities.

Kenneth and Maxine Woodward Agriculture Scholarships (4)

  • Open to OPSU Seniors majoring in Animal Science, Ag Business, Agronomy and Ag Education. One scholarship for each major listed. Must have a minimum 2.5 GPA. Attach letter stating any participation in community service, ag organizations, student activities and/or judging team.

  • Open to entering Freshman who is a graduate of Hooker High School. Preference to Health Care or Ag related majors.

  • Open to students who graduated from an Oklahoma high school and are majoring in Agricultural Education, Agronomy, Animal Science or Agricultural Business. One scholarship available in each of the 4 listed majors.

  • Open to students who graduated from an Oklahoma high school and are majoring in Agricultural Education, Agronomy, Animal Science, or Agricultural Business. One scholarship available in each of the 4 listed majors.

  • Open to Agriculture or Education majors. Minimum high school GPA of 3.5 or college GPA of 3.0. Must be graduate of Oklahoma panhandle high school or northeast NM high school. Attach list of character, community service, and extracurricular activities including athletics.

  • Open to students pursuing an agriculture degree with a min of 3.0 GPA. Renewable for four years while maintaining 3.0 GPA.

Livin’ Green / GCEF

  • Open to students with a min. 2.5 GPA. Must attach a personal essay describing how you are living a “green life” trying to reduce your carbon footprint on the planet and living a healthy existence (mind, body and soul). Please indicate prior participation in Livin’ Green races (Guymon, OK). Extra consideration given to those who have participated.

Lori Underwood Memorial Scholarship

  • Open to graduates of a HS in the Oklahoma panhandle with a 2.5 GPA. Need considered. Preference to Upward Bound students or graduates of a HS in Cimarron County, OK or Lomega HS. Attach letter stating Upward Bound participation and need.

  • Open to student with min. 2.5 GPA. Attach statement of character, community service, extra-curricular activities and financial need.

PAMC Class of 1954

  • Open to Jr. or Sr. with min. 2.5 GPA. Must be a good citizen actively pursing an OPSU degree and participate in campus activities. Preference to descendants of PAMC Class of 1954. List name of ancestor on application. Financial need will also be considered.

Alumni and Friends Legacy Scholarship

  • Preference to student who is a direct descendent of an OPSU graduate or a direct descendent of a current or life member of the Panhandle State Association of Alumni & Friends. Must attach statement verifying relationship. Must have a min. 19 ACT or min. 2.5 GPA. List character, community service and extra-curricular activities.

OPSU Staff

  • Open to full time non faculty or full time contracted employees of OPSU (with the exception of President, Vice Presidents, Deans and the Executive to the President and those whose employment depends in whole or in part upon their status as a currently enrolled student) shall be eligible if they have been employed at least one year as of April 1; or the spouse, child or legal dependent child of an eligible employee. Must be degree-seeking student enrolled in at least 6 credit hours.
