Dr. Duren Named Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs 

Oklahoma Panhandle State University selected Dr. Brad Duren as the Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs. He assumed the position on July 15. Before accepting this position, he served as the Dean of the College of Arts and Education, where he will continue this role in his new position.

President Dr. Tim Faltyn said, “Dr. Duren will serve our University well in this new role. I believe in him and his capabilities to meet the needs of our students and faculty.”

Dr. Duren will be responsible for leading all areas of academic support across campus, under the direction of the Provost, Dr. Julie Dinger.

Dr. Dinger stated, “Dr. Duren’s experience and approach was the right fit for this role. He brings a vision and leadership style that I am grateful to integrate into the leadership team to build a brighter future for OPSU.”

Prior to his 21 years of service at Panhandle State, Dr. Duren taught US History, Philosophy, and Humanities at Oklahoma Missionary Baptist College. He then taught three sections of freshman US History while serving as a Teaching Assistant during his Ph.D. work at Oklahoma State University. Then an adjunct History professor at Redlands Community College, the University of Central Oklahoma, and Rose State College.

Dr. Duren commented, “I am honored to be chosen for this position. For over twenty years, OPSU has been my home. This University has been great to me, and I look forward to the challenges this new opportunity affords me.”
