Galleon Sponsors 20th Annual Art Jubilee

Goodwell, Okla. — The 20th Annual Art Jubilee is just around the corner at Oklahoma Panhandle State University on Wednesday, April 11th. Sponsored by The Galleon Restaurant, it promises to be a day chalked full of art activities. Students will be able to participate in contests, learn from demonstrations, and earn prize or scholarship money. Community members are invited to attend the demonstrations in Hesper Hall as well as browse the student’s contest entries in the Panhandle State Ballroom.

Professional artist and tie-down roper Bradley Chance Hays will be a guest artist for the 2018 Annual Art Jubilee. Hays, an alumnus of Panhandle State, completed his undergraduate studies at OSU before completing his graduate degree at West Texas A&M University. In January 2016, he was featured in the magazine Southwest Art and in October 2014 he was featured in Today’s Horse Magazine. He expresses his vision of the West using a wide array of colors and in a primarily expressionistic style.

By popular request from area teachers, Panhandle State’s own Brent Shoulder is a “guest” artist for ceramics. Shoulders is Alumni and Associate Professor of Fine Arts at Panhandle State. He studied HPER, Geology, and Art at Panhandle State and studied Studio Art in Ceramics at West Texas A&M University for his MFA.

Both artists will present throughout the day on Wednesday and additional workshops are free and open to the public with Shoulders presenting a Ceramic Art Workshop on Tuesday and Hays presenting a workshop on Thursday.

Special thanks goes out to the event sponsor The Galleon Restaurant and additional thanks goes to Anchor D Bank, Prestage Farms, Slats Market, Tri-County Electric, Top Value, and Kim’s Ribs.
