The CIS program here (Panhandle State) here really helped me prepare for my future especially a capstone class I took. Overall, I think I got a very strong foundation.
Cale Curry
Originally from Gruver, Texas, Cale graduated from Gruver High School in 2013 and then attended Seward County Community College for two years before transferring to Goodwell.
Cale especially enjoyed the small class sizes and the relationships he was able to develop with his professors during his time as a Panhandle State student. The professor’s willingness to help students succeed was important to him.
“The CIS program here (Panhandle State) here really helped me prepare for my future especially a capstone class I took. Overall, I think I got a very strong foundation.”
Chair of the Computer Information Systems Department Steve Martin commented, “Cale is one of the most driven to learn students I have had the pleasure to have in class. He was constantly seeking out new opportunities to increase his knowledge.”
Very active on campus, Cale was a member of the Association of Information Technology Professionals (AITP) and had a founding role in the Game Design Club.
Cale commented on his role, “It (Game Design Club) has been in the shadows of Carter Hall for years, but I just decided let’s make this an official thing and I helped get it charted with Student Senate.”
The group meets every two weeks for regular meetings and once a month for a game night that the group co-hosts with AITP.
Cale also had a vital role with the campus website as he worked as a student worker for the webmaster Nick Tuttle. Tuttle said, “Cale would jump on any task I handed him, always had ideas, and was extremely helpful in getting the new website up and running.”
Most recently, Cale got accepted to GUILDHALL at SMU in Plano, Texas where he plans to earn a master’s degree and pursue a career in game design.
