Building Bonds and Fostering Unity: Oklahoma Panhandle State University’s Staff Association Summer Events

This summer, the OPSU Staff Association took an innovative approach to strengthen employee bonds by organizing engaging events. Led by the dedicated Staff Association President, Ashlee Bruner, and with the support of University President, Dr. Julie Dinger, these events have brought employees closer together, fostering a sense of camaraderie and teamwork on campus.

The Staff Association’s mission revolves around promoting a positive work environment, providing opportunities for professional development, and organizing social gatherings that foster a strong sense of community.

“Team bonding is essential to creating a supportive work environment. We wanted to create opportunities for employees to interact outside their daily work responsibilities, allowing them to build meaningful connections and friendships,” shared Ashlee Bruner, President of the Staff Association.

The summer events were designed to be diverse and inclusive, catering to different interests and hobbies among members. From organized indoor sports games in the Noble Center, board and card games in the Library, and themed dress-up days, the Staff Association ensured something for everyone.

University President, Dr. Julie Dinger, expressed her enthusiasm for the initiative, “The Staff Association’s summer events have brought a renewed sense of unity and positive spirit to our campus. Our employees have embraced these opportunities to come together and build bonds beyond their offices. This camaraderie directly contributes to a happier and more productive culture, ultimately benefiting our students and the entire university.”

As the summer events concluded, the Staff Association continues to explore new and creative ways to build on this foundation of teamwork and camaraderie throughout the academic year. By nurturing these connections, Oklahoma Panhandle State University strives to create an environment where employees feel valued, motivated, and united in their mission to provide the best possible experience for their students and the broader campus community.
