Panhandle State is set to host its first traditional Homecoming since 2019 and is planning to have a week full of celebration starting September 20th, 2021.
Student Government Association has picked a theme representing diversity across campus, “Cultures of The World at OPSU.”
Yesenie Cano, SGA President commented, “A huge shout out goes out to the SGA executive council for coming up with this theme and to the homecoming committee for wanting to include the theme in the events throughout the week. I hope to see many people attending the events and becoming more culturally aware.”
Some planned events throughout the week are: Karaoke night on September 20th; Food Trucks for lunch and later in the day “Aggie Chalk the Walk” on September 21st; Door decorating contest and Homecoming Dance hosted by the Black Scholars of the World on September 22nd; El Centro and HALO pair up to host a Multicultural Festival on September 23rd and that evening will be the Aggie Bonfire, weather permitted; the Pep rally and Coronation on September 24th following the Volleyball game.
Saturday, September 25th, will be an exciting day in No Man’s Land for Aggie Nation. The parade will start at 11 AM, and OPSU would like to invite all area businesses, local organizations, and campus clubs to participate in the parade. After the parade, everyone can cheer on the Aggie Volleyball team in the Anchor D Arena starting at 12 PM.
Hannah Hammack, Student Life Coordinator stated, “I am really excited to be back to a traditional homecoming. We look forward to the students taking part in cultures of the world here at Panhandle State. I cannot wait to see everyone show their Aggie spirit. It is going to be a week full of fun activities.”
