68th Annual Beef Bull Performance Test-Final Results

The bulls on the 68th Annual OPSU Performance Test at Goodwell, OK, were weighed off test Saturday, February 1, 2020. In preparation for the February 24 sale, the bulls will be measured for frame score, scrotal circumference, and evaluated on semen quality. They were scanned for fat thickness, rib eye area, and intramuscular fat. The bulls ended up with an average daily gain (ADG) of 4.40 lbs. and a weight-per-day-of-age (WDA) of 3.13 lbs. These bulls will sell in the 68th Annual Bull Sale Monday, February 24, 2020, at 1:00 pm CST, Goodwell, OK. The sale will be held in the England Activity Center at the University Farm with Matt Sims as the auctioneer.

The top gaining bull on test is a senior age bull consigned by B&M Angus, Edmond, OK, with an ADG of 5.68 lbs. and a WDA of 3.21 lbs. The bull is a son of B&M Upshot 304. B&M Angus also has the second-ranked senior on an ADG of 5.45 lbs. A bull sired by En Insight 276. Terry Sedlak, Kingfisher, OK, has the third-ranked senior bull with an ADG of 5.38 lbs. on an Angus sired by S3 Bankers Cash 849. In the senior age pen division, B&M Angus has the top pen with an ADG of 4.96 lbs. on a pen of three bulls sired by En Insight 276. Gerald Fish, Harrah, OK, has the second-ranked senior pen with an ADG of 4.92 lbs. on four Angus sired by B&M Crackshot 644. Another B&M Angus pen is in third place with an ADG of 4.71 lbs. There are six bulls in this pen, all sons of B&M Upshot 304.

Terry Sedlak has the top gaining junior age bull with an ADG of 5.65 lbs. and a WDA of 3.36 lbs. GAR Sure Fire sires the bull. Clarence Frey, Mulhall, OK has the second-ranked junior age bull with an ADG of 5.50 lbs. on an Angus sired by Spring Creeks Acclaim 7049. Another Terry Sedlak bull is in third place with an ADG of 5.30 lbs. on a bull sired by Exar Prophet 7167B. Sedlak’s pen of three Angus is also the top pen of juniors with an ADG of 5.02 lbs. Clarence Frey’s pen of five Angus is in second place with an ADG of 4.48 lbs. and a WDA of 3.53 lbs. Bull 10-4 in this pen has a WDA of 3.82 lbs., the highest on the test.
