Dr. Julie Prior completed her PhD in the Department of English at the University of Toronto in 2021. Titled “The ‘Silent’ Shrew: The Taming of the Shrew in Text, Adaptation, and Performance,” her dissertation explores how theatrical adaptation—from Shakespeare’s time, through the long eighteenth century, and into the present—paves pathways for social change.
