Oklahoma Panhandle State University has announced Katie Quebedeaux as the 2024 commencement speaker. Quebedeaux is a proud fourth-generation Oklahoma native. She attended K-12 at Guymon High School and continued her education at Oklahoma Panhandle State University, where she obtained her bachelor’s degree. She currently serves as president of the Panhandle State Association of Alumni and Friends. Throughout her career, Katie has worked in both public and private school settings, working with students from preschool through high school.
Katie currently serves as the Administrator of Faith Learning Center early childhood programs. She is proud to serve as a board member for the Licensed Child Care Association of Oklahoma alongside strong, passionate early childhood leaders. In addition, she is a CECPD Educator, a validator for the National Accreditation Commission, and a Professional Development Specialist for the Child Development Associate Council. Quebedeaux was also appointed to the Oklahoma State Board of Education, representing Congressional District 44.
In addition to her bachelor’s degree from OPSU, Quebedeaux earned an associate’s degree in child development from Northern Oklahoma College and a master’s degree in early intervention and child development from Southeastern Oklahoma State University.
Katie resides in Guymon with her husband Corey, a high school history teacher. She is the daughter of Larry and Jan Wiggins. Katie’s family has always been active throughout the Guymon community and the OPSU campus. Katie credits her successful career to the education she has received at OPSU. She is passionate about advocating and providing a solid foundation for Oklahoma’s children.
“Mrs. Quebedeaux embodies the spirit of OPSU through and through, not only as our alumni association President but also as a relentless advocate for education across the great state of Oklahoma,” stated Dr. Julie Dinger, University President. “Her commitment to her alma mater and tireless efforts to advance educational opportunities resonate deeply within our university community. As she stands before our graduating class, Katie Quebedeaux symbolizes success and the enduring bond between our past, present, and future. Her presence today is a testament to the transformative power of education and the mark we, as proud Aggies, leave on the world.”
