Dr. Zachary Cooke
Oklahoma Panhandle State University proudly announces that Dr. Zachary Cooke, Director of Music and Assistant Professor of Music, has completed his Doctor of Music Education degree at Liberty University. Dr. Cooke’s doctoral thesis focused on the effects of servant leadership on music literacy and community partnerships.
Dr. Cooke expressed his gratitude and vision for the future of music at OPSU, stating, “I just want to thank the supportive nature of OPSU. All my colleagues were extremely supportive and encouraging throughout my final research writing phase. My research topic, Servant Leadership, is something that I value and believe is the future of music education. My job is to serve the community and bridge the gap between academia and student development. Through this mentality, I plan to continue implementing instruction conducive to exponential student development and community support to uplift music education at OPSU.”
At OPSU, Dr. Cooke teaches music theory and directs both the OPSU choirs and bands. His expertise and innovative approaches significantly enhanced the university’s music program, fostering a dynamic learning environment. His commitment to music education and community engagement exemplifies the core values of OPSU, fostering academic excellence and community enrichment.
Before joining OPSU, Dr. Cooke gained extensive experience directing choral activities and teaching music at various educational institutions. His background in leading thriving vocal music programs and his active involvement as a choral conductor and church musician bring a wealth of knowledge and inspiration to the OPSU community.
Dr. Cooke’s achievements not only enhance his personal academic and professional credentials, but also significantly contribute to the OPSU community, underscoring the university’s dedication to academic excellence and leadership in the arts.
