OPSU Livestock Show Team Shines at Oklahoma State and Tulsa State Fairs

The OPSU Livestock Show Team kicked off its season with a string of victories at the Oklahoma State Fair in Oklahoma City and the Tulsa State Fair. Competing against exhibitors from across the country, the team distinguished OPSU by bringing home an impressive collection of awards and honors.


At the Oklahoma State Fair on September 16, the team exhibited six heads of sheep, demonstrating exceptional preparation and skill in their first show of the season. Their results are as follows:

  • Grand Champion Hampshire Ram
  • Reserve Grand Champion Hampshire Ewe
  • Grand Champion Pair of Hampshire Yearling Ewes
  • 5th Place Yearling Hampshire Ewe
  • Reserve Champion Pair of Shropshire Yearling Ewes
  • 4th, 5th, and 6th place Yearling Shropshire Ewes

Ashlyn Eisenman, Marci Kopf, Kreslyn Smith, Jorja Juenemann, Camille Merrell, Meadow Harriger, Bronk Embry, and Alya Arana were among the students traveling to Oklahoma City.


A few days later, on September 27, the team headed to the Tulsa State Fair, renowned for its competitive classes and large entries. Despite the increased level of competition, OPSU’s team continued to impress, with their sheep once again bringing home multiple awards:

  • Grand Champion Hampshire Ram
  • Champion Oklahoma Owned Hampshire Ram
  • 2nd Place Yearling Hampshire Ewe
  • 2nd Place Pair of Hampshire Yearling Ewes
  • 3rd Place Early Spring Shropshire Ram
  • 3rd Place Young Shropshire Flock
  • 3rd Place Shropshire Flock
  • 3rd Place Pair of Shropshire’s
  • 3rd Place January Hampshire Ewe Lamb
  • 4th Place January Hampshire Ewe Lamb
  • 5th Place February Hampshire Ewe Lamb

The team members traveling to Tulsa included Kaley Walls-Legrand, Kami Kornele, Kreslyn Smith, Ashlyn Eisenman, Marci Kopf, Grant Theurer, Ashley Alexander, Jorja Juenemann, Alya Arana, Meadow Harriger, and Bronk Embry.


Coach Cassidy Tolle, who leads the Livestock Show Team, expressed her pride in the team’s efforts and achievements. “It was our first year exhibiting at both state fairs, and we were well represented. Earning the Champion Hampshire Ram division at both shows is a huge honor, as we competed against some of the best in the region for the titles. I am excited to see what is next for the team.”


With a strong start to the season and an outstanding display of teamwork and dedication, the OPSU Livestock Show Team looks forward to building on its success as it continues to compete in upcoming shows.
