Celebrating Excellence at the OPSU Agriculture Banquet and Awards Ceremony

On May 10th, the OPSU College of Agriculture, Science, and Nursing (COASN) hosted the first Agriculture Banquet and Awards Ceremony to honor the remarkable achievements of its students. The event was a testament to the dedication, hard work, and academic achievements displayed by individuals within this college.

The ceremony served as a platform to recognize outstanding athletes, club members, and students who had excelled inside and outside the classroom throughout the academic year. It acknowledged the achievements of exceptional freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors in each major within the college. With approximately 220 attendees, the evening was filled with pride, celebration, and a sense of community.

University President, Dr. Julie Dinger, stated, “Congratulations to the award winners and to the faculty, staff, and coaches who make the College of Agriculture, Science, and Nursing great.”

The event acted as a catalyst for motivating and inspiring students to continue their journey of excellence. “By recognizing and celebrating achievements, the Agriculture Banquet and Awards Ceremony encouraged students to reach for greater heights in their academic pursuits, athletics, and club involvements,” stated Dean Tracy Kincannon. “It served as a reminder that their hard work and dedication would be recognized and appreciated by their peers and mentors.”

“I am very proud to be a part of the College of Agriculture, Science, and Nursing team. This year was just the beginning of building and growing our great agriculture program,” said Kacey Ward, Administrative Coordinator. “We have just scratched the surface of what doors and opportunities we will open for students. Congratulations to all the 2023 award winners.”

In addition to academic and athletic achievements, alumni support was shown through attendance and donations from Aggie Nation for the Agriculture Department. The agriculture department looks forward to holding this event in the future.
