OPSU Education Students Secure Job Placement After Graduation

Oklahoma Panhandle State University is proud to announce the remarkable success of its graduates in securing positions immediately after graduation, with the education program leading the way. The university’s commitment to providing a comprehensive education program combined with hands-on experience has prepared students for fulfilling careers in the teaching profession.

A notable achievement of OPSU’s education program is the high rate at which graduates are successfully placed in teaching positions. Over the past year, 100% of education program graduates have secured employment within months of completing their degrees. This impressive statistic highlights the effectiveness of OPSU’s approach to preparing teachers for the demands of today’s educational landscape.

Dr. Charla Lewis, Dean of the College of Arts and Education at OPSU, expressed her delight at the program’s success, saying, “We take immense pride in our graduates and their ability to make an immediate impact in the field of education. Our comprehensive curriculum, coupled with invaluable practical experience, ensures that our students are well-prepared to address the evolving needs of students in their classrooms.”

OPSU’s education program has garnered widespread recognition for its commitment to fostering strong relationships with local school districts through the Panhandle Promise Scholarship. This scholarship addresses the desperate need for highly trained educators in the panhandle public school district’s classrooms. This is a two-year commitment from the student to teach in one of 16 Oklahoma panhandle public school districts.

One of the education program’s recent graduates, Harlee Wiggins, shared her experience, stating, “I am immensely grateful for the education I received at OPSU. The program allowed me to gain practical experience through hands-on learning and through internships. Thanks to the support and guidance I received, I secured an agriculture education teaching position even before graduation, and I feel well-prepared to positively impact my students’ lives.”

OPSU’s commitment to academic excellence and its emphasis on experiential learning sets it apart as a premier institution for aspiring educators. As the university continues to strengthen its education program, it remains dedicated to producing highly qualified teachers who will shape the future of education in Oklahoma and beyond.
