Esparza Named Athletic Director at Panhandle State

Oklahoma Panhandle State University is proud to announce Victor Esparza as the University’s Athletic Director.

Esparza has deep roots at Panhandle State as he graduated in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science in Health and Physical Education. During his time, he played on the Baseball team. He went on to receive his Master of Education in Sports Administration in 2013 from East Central University.

University President, Dr. Tim Faltyn stated, “I am so proud of the hard work Vic has already put into this position while being Interim since Fall of 2020. His dedication and commitment to student excellence in the classroom, as well as elite college athletes is balanced by his heart of service.”

Esparza started his career as Interim Head Women’s Basketball Coach in 2017. His first season inspired him, and in April of 2018, he accepted the position as head coach. He just finished his fourth season with the Aggie Women’s Basketball Team.

Esparza has been proactive in helping the Athletic Department see success on campus and off of campus. He has helped create local partnerships with local school districts and businesses and oversee facility renovations.

“Meghan Mulcahy built a great foundation for us to be successful, and we want to continue thriving to give our student-athletes the best experience possible. During this school year, we have been able to finish Anchor D Arena’s renovation, which gives us one of the best facilities in our conference. This is just the start of renovations we have planned, and I’m honored to be a part of the success to come.”, stated Esparza.

Bob Majeski, Head Football Coach, commented, “I am very excited for Victor to step into the role of athletic director here at OPSU. He brings high energy and new thought processes to our athletic department. He is loyal and hard-working. I look forward to working with him.”

Head Baseball Coach, Shawn Joy commented, “This is a great day for Aggie Athletics and OPSU. Vic has a great passion and vision for what we need to get to the next level.”

“I am confident that Vic will be beyond successful in this position,” said Faltyn. “He is a problem solver and has a true passion for making students and OPSU athletics consistently excellent and sustainable.”

Esparza commented, “I am extremely grateful for this opportunity to lead our Athletic department into the future. I want to thank Dr. Faltyn and the leadership team for giving me this opportunity to lead our athletic department. We want to continue with the momentum that we have built over the past three years as an athletic department.”
