Oklahoma Panhandle State University Receives Funds to Help Students with Financial Assistance

In the later part of March, the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act was signed into law. It will provide financial relief grants for many students, including individuals with student loans.

OPSU submitted a certification and agreement to the U.S. Department of Education, Oklahoma Panhandle State University will receive $441,292 in grants for their students through the Panhandle State CARES Account. OPSU is currently awaiting further guidance on fund availability and eligibility guidelines from the U.S. Department of Education. With these funds, OPSU can help provide financial assistance to students who meet current and future U.S. Department of Education guidelines that have been economically impacted by this global pandemic.

University President, Dr. Tim Faltyn stated, “As a University, we are constantly trying to keep our students, employees, and community informed during this very uncertain time. These grants will be a tremendous relief for many of our students who are impacted by this pandemic. We are currently working through the details and should have more information by the end of the week about when the money will be available and how students can get their grants.”

OPSU is dedicated to assisting as many students as possible during this uncertain time. As the Panhandle State CARES Account is being organized, we thank you for your support.
