Soft Opening for Shooting Range Complex

Oklahoma Panhandle State University hosted a soft opening for the Panhandle State Shooting Sports Complex on February 22nd. Nearly 300 guests attended the event.

The Shooting Sports Complex houses five facilities: rifle and pistol range; trap, skeet, and 5-stand; sporting clays; 3-D archery; and Olympic archery. Out of the four facilities open on Saturday, trap and rifle proved to be the most popular.

University President, Dr. Tim Faltyn stated, “The Soft Opening of the Panhandle State Shooting Complex proved that we are meeting a need in our area with this facility.”. He continued by stating, “This facility will make Goodwell a destination for students and visitors.”

David Watkins, with Seaboard Foods, provided hamburgers and hotdogs for the event. Seaboard Foods is a longstanding partner of OPSU.

Some of the shooting facilities will be open on Saturdays and Sundays, from 1:00 PM until dusk throughout the spring. Additional information for the summer and fall hours will be announced by May.
