First Ever Senior/Alumni Mixer Is a Huge Hit

The Academic Resource Center and the Alumni Association at Oklahoma Panhandle State University teamed up to host the first ever Senior/Alumni Mixer on September 23rd. The event was intended to be a more relaxed form of a job fair, allowing current students to network with Alumni and local businesses. “We think our students here at Panhandle are pretty great, and it is rare to get to share them with the community like this event allowed us to do. We hope to make the mixer an annual tradition and continue to foster relationships between our students and area businesses,” said the Dean of the Academic Resource Center, Sarah Green.

The Pub on the Bricks in Guymon gave their support by hosting the event in their restaurant. In all, about 45 students were in attendance, as well as 10 local businesses including: Goodwell Public Schools, Guymon Public Schools, Anchor D Bank, Bank of the Panhandle, TCEC, Seaboard, Brown, Graham & Company, P.C., Denise H. Lunt, CPA, Elite Therapy, and Green Country Equipment. Director of Alumni Relations, Natasha Eidson, stated, “It is so exciting to see Alumni give back to the University by guiding these students as they go throughout their college career.”

OPSU President, Dr. Tim Faltyn, was in attendance and commented, “I am proud of my team and the work that was done to make this event such a hit. This was an excellent way to allow Alumni and local businesses to engage with our students.”

MaKenze Anderson, the Academic Resource Center Coordinator, was very pleased with the event saying, “I would like to thank all the students, businesses, and also all our staff and faculty who attended. Without your help, this event would not have been made possible.”
