OPSU signed and returned to the Department of Education the Certification and Agreement for Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students on April 13, 2020. OPSU used no less than 50 percent of the funds received under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.

OPSU received $441,292 from the Department of Education pursuant to the Certification and Agreement for Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students.

OPSU has distributed $441,292 as of February 19, 2021  in Financial Aid Grants to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act.

There are an estimated 635 students at OPSU eligible to participate in programs under Section 484 in Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965 and thus eligible to receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act.

477 OPSU students received an Emergency Financial Aid Grant under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act.

OPSU students were asked to complete an online CARES Emergency Financial Aid Grant application. On the application, students verified they had additional expenses related to items such as food, housing, course materials, technology, health care, or childcare due to the disruption of campus operations caused by the coronavirus.

Set amounts were awarded to students based on their enrollment status.

A campus-wide email was sent to all students, faculty, and staff on April 30th, notifying them of the availability of the emergency grants and giving instructions to log into the student portal and complete the application.

HEERF II Disclosure

OPSU signed and returned to the Department of Education the Certification and Agreement for Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students on April 13, 2020. OPSU used no less than 50 percent of the funds received under Section 314(a)(1), (a)(4) HEERF II, Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Acts, 2021 (CRRSA) to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.

OPSU received $485,025 from the Department of Education pursuant to the Certification and Agreement for Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students.

OPSU has distributed $484,789  as of October 1, 2021 in Financial Aid Grants to students under Section 314(a)(1), (a)(4) HEERF II, Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Acts, 2021 (CRRSA).

There are an estimated 1,523 students at OPSU eligible to receive Financial Aid Grants under Section 314(a)(1), (a)(4) HEERF II, Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Acts, 2021 (CRRSA).

HEERF III

OPSU signed and returned to the Department of Education the Certification and Agreement for Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students on April 13, 2020. OPSU used no less than 50 percent of the funds received under Section 314(a)(1), (a)(4) HEERF III, American Rescue Plan to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.

OPSU received $1,427,883 plus $73,105 for being a Hispanic Serving Institution for a total of $1,500,988 for grants to students.

As of  March 30, 2022, OPSU has distributed $1,497,600 to students in financial aid grants.

There are an estimated 2,647 students at OPSU eligible to receive the grants.

2,617 students have received the grant.

Students were notified via email in October of 2021 about the opportunity for adjustment to their cost of attendance or an adjustment to income using professional judgment due to their family\’s or spouses\’ change in income due to the pandemic as required.
