Hasib Chowdhury, Ph.D., CHIA, CHE, is the Assistant Professor of Business Administration for the College of Business and Technology (COBT) at Oklahoma Panhandle State University. He is an academic researcher, a certified hospitality educator (CHE), a certified hotel industry analyst (CHIA), and a Texas Tech University (TTU) alumnus.
Dr. Chowdhury graduated with a Ph.D. in Hospitality, Tourism, and Retail Management from the Department of Hospitality and Retail Management at TTU in 2023. He did his Ph.D. on work-life balance in family-owned hospitality businesses. The topic of his Ph.D. dissertation was “Family Dynamics and Culture: An Exploration of Work-life Balance in Family-owned Hospitality Businesses.” Dr. Chowdhury’s research interests lie in work-life balance in the hospitality sector, family-owned hospitality businesses, and sustainable tourism. So far, his research has produced four conference presentations and one book chapter publication, and he currently has three publications at various stages of completion.
Dr. Chowdhury began his tenure at TTU as a teaching assistant in 2019 and transitioned to serving as a graduate-level instructor in 2021. At OPSU, he has taught undergraduate courses for COBT related to economics, such as principles of microeconomics and macroeconomics, and management, such as management principles, organizational behavior, office management, and strategic management. He also prefers teaching courses related to hospitality and tourism.
Apart from teaching, Dr. Chowdhury has expertise in developing academic curricula for hospitality, tourism, business, and related fields. Dr. Chowdhury is building a new hospitality and tourism program for OPSU’s COBT.
Dr. Chowdhury is from Bangladesh, a small but beautiful country in Southeast Asia. Prior to his arrival at Texas Tech in 2019, he received his bachelor’s (BBA) in 2012 and a master’s (MBA) in 2013 in Tourism and Hospitality Management from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. After completing his MBA, he had four years of experience working for BRAC, one of the largest non-profit organizations in the world.
