Head Volleyball Coach at Panhandle State Julie Allen attended the USA Men’s Sitting National Team Camp this past week. Allen worked with some of the most disciplined athletes in the country, including Eric Duda, Rod Green, Zach Upp, John Kremer, Chris Seilkop, Ben Aman, Nick Dadgostar, Dan Regan, James Stuck, and Pat Young.
Allen worked side by side with many Olympic athletes and learned more about their stories and how they have gotten to where they are. Allen met two-time Gold Medalist Bethany Zummo, who took the time to provide great insight. Zummo shared her experiences with Allen, which helped her better understand the sitting game.
Allen stated, “I am thankful for Head Coach Greg Walker to provide the experience. I have known Greg since I was at Georgetown University. Greg has a great understanding of the game, and he does an amazing job teaching the game technically and philosophically.”
Assistant Volleyball Coach Keyonna Morrow was also in attendance with Coach Allen. “I am grateful I was able to bring my assistant, Keyonna Morrow, to the training camp. It is important to me to continue mentoring and growing our game and coaches. This is just the beginning of Keyonna’s career, and I know she has a great future in this sport ahead of her.”, stated Allen.
Athletic Director Victor Esparza commented, “I am extremely proud of Coach Allen for being part of this event. She has taken our Volleyball program to another level, which will only propel it to new heights. She is well-deserving to be part of Team USA.”
Allen has been invited to join the USA Women’s Team Camp as well. The Aggie Nation is proud of the work that Coach Allen and Coach Morrow are doing at Panhandle State.
