Oklahoma Panhandle State University Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs, Dr. Brad Duren announced his departure after twenty-two years of service at Panhandle State. Dr. Duren is stepping down to pursue another career option.
During Dr. Duren’s time at Panhandle State, he has served as an Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Professor of History. He also served as Department Chair of Behavioral and Social Sciences for thirteen years, Dean of the College of Arts and Education for three years, and Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs for over a year.
University President, Dr. Tim Faltyn stated, “Dr. Duren has shown that when tasked with any role he can be successful. His time spent at Panhandle State will be remembered as one that has always met the needs of students and faculty beyond measure. I wish him the best in his future.”
Provost, Dr. Julie Dinger commented, “Dr. Duren has always shown great leadership in each role he has held at Panhandle State. I am grateful for his vision and helping to build a bright legacy at OPSU.”
Dr. Duren stated, “My twenty-two years at OPSU have been the best years of my life. I could not have asked for a better place to teach and work. What will remain with me most are the wonderful students I have had the privilege of teaching and mentoring through the years. We truly have some of the best students anywhere, and to see them succeed both in school and life are what has always motivated me most.”
“I have also been blessed with the best colleagues, both faculty and staff, anyone could want. They made coming to work a joy, and I am grateful for their boundless friendship, support, and professionalism. Lastly, I would be remiss if I did not express my gratitude to Dr. Tim Faltyn and Dr. Julie Dinger for giving me opportunities I never thought I would have (nor could do), but their trust, guidance, and counsel have made me both a better professional and a better person. As I move on to this next chapter, I only hope that I am leaving OPSU a better place, and that I made a difference. A part of me will remain in “the ‘Handle,” and I know that OPSU’s future is in good hands. Thanks again for the honor of being part of the family. I will always be an Aggie!”
