Oklahoma Panhandle State University to Start a Three-Phase Reopen on June 8

Oklahoma Panhandle State University will start a three-phase reopen on June 8. OPSU has continued to ensure the health and safety of the students, faculty, staff, and community by closely monitoring COVID-19 cases in the region.

Following Governor Stitt and the Department of Commerce’s “Open Up and Recover Safely” three-phased approach, as well as the April 30, 2020, OMES guidance, OPSU, will begin the process of reopening campus and allowing some employees/departments to return to work safely. The plan is designed to comply with guidance from the CDC, Oklahoma State Department of Health, and local, state, and federal authorities.

University President, Dr. Tim Faltyn stated “As we move into the first phase of the reopen, I want to commend our campus and community for their cooperation and support during this time. We have been able to continue our excellent work in an untraditional setting, but we are excited to have everyone back on campus.”

In Phase 1, those employees who can and feel safe to return to work can do so. Phase 2 is set for June 22, where we will welcome more employees to campus. On July 6, all employees will return to work for Phase 3. During this time, the campus will also open up to the public.

Appropriate health screenings will be put in place for employees returning to campus to check for symptoms of COVID-19.

The OPSU campus will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and will be closed on Friday through Sunday, beginning July 6 until August 3. Regular operating hours will be reinstated after August 3. Certain areas on campus may have abbreviated hours due to employee availability.

OPSU will continue to provide updates on the reopen at https://opsu.edu/coronavirus/reopening/ and through social media.
