OPSU Baseball head coach Jason LaRocque steps down

Oklahoma Panhandle State University Head Baseball Coach, Jason LaRocque, announced his resignation today.

Head Coach since 2017, LaRocque led OPSU Baseball’s transition to the NAIA and Sooner Athletic Conference, and coached a 25-32 season in 2018 and a 20-27 season in 2019, reaching the conference tournament both years.

Athletic Director Meghan Mulcahy said, “I am appreciative of Jason’s efforts in building our program, and for the great group of players he and his staff brought to the team.”

Mulcahy continued: “I will be reaching out to current players and recruits to answer their questions.”

LaRocque said, “I appreciate the opportunity to have worked at OPSU and to have built up Aggie Baseball to a winning program. I know the legacy left will allow the program a bright future.”

OPSU will immediately begin a national search and will have a new Head Coach of the Aggie Baseball program in place in the near future.

LaRocque is an Austin, Texas native. Prior to OPSU, LaRocque coached at Ottawa University, University of Illinois- Springfield, Austin College, Menlo College, and Texas A&M University- Corpus Christi.
