Hunt Seat, Meet OPSU

Canyon, Texas—On Nov. 17-18 the OPSU Equestrian team ventured to Canyon, Texas, and, with nerves steeled in determination, came away from its first ever Hunt Seat competition looking pretty good.

The head coach, Lisa Drumhiller, had this to say, “The equestrian team kicked off their first year with a hunt seat team in great style this weekend at West Texas. This is the first Hunt Seat show ever for these ladies, and they exceeded all expectations with some stiff competition from six other schools including OU, WT, and TTU.”

Kassidy Weaver came away from the competition earning 2nd place on Sunday, while Jacee Barr placed 3rd and 5th respectively. Meanwhile, Reilly Shore was able to secure 4th and 5th place on Saturday and Sunday. Mackenzie Leach placed reserve both days.

With the Equestrian Team’s first ever Hunt Seat competition out of the way the semester now comes to a close. The next show the team will participate in will not be until the spring semester on Feb 2-3 at Texas Tech in Lubbock. We’re very proud of what the Equestrian Team has been able to accomplish and we are looking forward to seeing what they get done in the spring!
