OKLAHOMA CITY – Panhandle State’s Breiman Alexander scooped up his second consecutive Sooner Athletic Conference men’s basketball player of the week honor, this time for Nov. 19-25.
Alexander, a senior guard from Del City, Okla., posted his second 40-point scoring performance in a row and his first double-double of the season with 41 points and 10 rebounds Tuesday in Goodwell, Okla.
Alexander fueled Panhandle State to a 98-90 win over Our Lady of the Lake (Texas) inside Anchor D Arena at Oscar Williams Field House. Alexander added four assists and two steals while hitting 14 of 23 shots from the floor, 5 of 11 3-point shots and all eight of his free-throw tries. Alexander had 40 points in a win over Barclay (Kan.) on Nov. 20.
In 2018-19, Alexander tops NAIA Division I with 28.8 points and 5.33 3-pointers made per contest. He rates sixth with 32 3s, seventh in free-throw percentage (91.3 percent) and ninth in points (173). Alexander supplies the Aggies with 5.8 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 1.83 steals per game.
Panhandle State’s Monti Regier became SAC women’s player of the week as the Aggies swept the SAC men’s and women’s basketball weekly awards for the first time.
Regier, a senior guard from Cheyenne, Okla., posted 23 points and seven 3-pointers in Panhandle State’s 69-48 win over Northern New Mexico during the week of Nov. 19-25.
On Tuesday in Goodwell, Okla., Regier shot 8-for-13 from the field and 7-for-11 from 3-point territory while picking up three rebounds and two assists. Regier’s seven treys gave her 132 career treys.
Regier provides Panhandle State with 10.2 points per game and 38 percent shooting from beyond the arc. She ranks 11th in the NAIA with 19 treys and 3.17 3-pointers per game.
