Volleyball Sees Good Times with Girl Scouts Game

Goodwell, Okla.— This past Saturday the Panhandle State Volleyball team saw a Sooner Athletic Conference matchup against the Oklahoma City University Stars, but the team and the fans were also treated to a special event taking place on the court after the game.

Head Volleyball Coach Signe Coombs was pleased to be able to offer the Girl Scouts a place on the court, saying, “This weekend was a great opportunity to have the Girl Scouts from Goodwell, Guymon and Boise City out to support us at our Saturday match and host them for a volleyball clinic.” The six scout troops, ranging from Daisies to Brownies, were brought out onto the court for a special between-sets commemoration, group pictures with the team and coaching staff, and were gifted a framed, team-signed photo.

After the game, the scouts were able to have some one-on-one time with the Lady Aggies and participate in youth-oriented informative clinic, while also leaving room for fun, games and frolicking on the court. “Our student-athletes and staff thoroughly enjoyed interacting with the Girl Scouts, getting to know them and teaching them volleyball skills,” expressed Coombs, “There was a lot of excitement and eagerness to learn which cultivated a fun, high energy environment.”

The Aggie Athletics department is always excited to have an opportunity to unite athletes with members of the community through special game days and create lasting connections through events with our athletics programs. Coombs continued, “One of the Girl Scout troop leaders, Moylene Davis, has been instrumental in building a strong relationship with our program. We are grateful for the continued support and the opportunity to give back to an organization that serves our local and regional communities.”

Aggie fans can look forward to even more events from Aggie Volleyball this month, as they host their annual Pink Game on Oct. 19 to raise awareness and honor cancer survivors, as well as fundraise for local clinics. Oct. 30 will see the courts decked out in décor for the exciting Halloween Spiketacular and fan costume contest.
