Volleyball Returns from Two-Week Road Stretch
 

Waxahachie, Texas—In their second straight road stint, the Panhandle State volleyball team took two Sooner Athletic Conference losses at Texas Wesleyan (3-1) and Southwestern Assemblies of God (3-0).

On Friday the Aggies faced the number three-ranked team in the conference in Fort Worth. Panhandle took the first set 25-23 over TWU, before falling in the final three games 25-15, 25-13 and 25-9. Sophomore Quiara Pointdexter put up a team-high of 12 kills against the Rams, followed by teammates Kendra Butler and Summer Middleton who tallied eight and seven kills respectively; Middleton also added one point with a service ace. Cailyn Moore and McKenna Clement earned game-high numbers with Moore contributing 33 assists and libero, Clement taking up 19 digs in the game. The Rams outplayed the Aggies on defense six blocks to one and held the Aggies to .087 hitting percentage on the night.

Saturday saw the Aggies match up with a Top-25 nationally ranked SAGU team in Waxahachie. The Lions maintained their undefeated status within the SAC, defeating the Aggies in three sets (25-15, 25-11 and 25-16). Butler led the team in points with seven kills, 1.5 blocks and one ace for 8.5 total points. Berry offered 17 assists and Clement was credited with 18 digs. The Aggies now hold a 5-17 record on the season with a 4-10 SAC record.

Panhandle State volleyball takes to their home court at Anchor D Arena this Friday, Oct. 19 for a Pink Out match against John Brown University at 6 p.m. The game against Bacone College originally scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 20 will be credited as a forfeit win for the Aggies, as the school disbanded their volleyball program.
