Pointdexter Named SAC Volleyball Attacker of the Week

OKLAHOMA CITY – Sasha Robinson from Texas Wesleyan landed her sixth career Sooner Athletic Conference setter of the week honor. Also garnering SAC weekly honors for Oct. 22-28 were Southwestern Christian’s Baleigh Murphy, the league defender of the week; and Panhandle State’s Quiara Poindexter, the SAC attacker of the week.

Robinson, a junior from Ozark, Mo., topped Texas Wesleyan with 25 assists and 11 kills to go with eight digs and two blocks in a 25-23, 25-21, 25-19 victory at John Brown on Saturday. She notched her 36th career double-double. This year, Robinson has provided the Lady Rams with 3.09 assists, 2.24 kills, 1.99 digs and 0.62 blocks a set. She has 1,936 career assists.

Murphy, a junior defensive specialist from Edmond, Okla., scooped up 5.00 digs and 0.86 aces a set. Murphy tracked down 20 digs while serving up three aces in a four-set win over Mid-America Christian on Tuesday. This season, Murphy is averaging 4.44 digs and 0.30 aces a set. She ranks fifth in the league with 382 digs and sixth in the conference in digs per set.

Poindexter, a sophomore outside hitter from Amarillo, Texas, supplied Panhandle State with 3.67 kills per set while hitting .404. She had 11 kills each against Langston and Central Christian. In 2018, Poindexter has tallied 2.22 kills, 1.14 digs and 0.18 blocks a set.
