OKLAHOMA CITY – Panhandle State’s Shayna Glover and John Brown’s Ben Martin became Sooner Athletic Conference cross country runners of the week after turning in season-best times.
Glover snagged SAC women’s runner of the week, while Martin picked up men’s runner of the week within the conference.
Glover, a freshman from Goodwell, Okla., became SAC runner of the week for the second time this season. She surpassed her season best with a time of 19 minutes, 42 seconds, good for a third-place finish in the New Mexico Highlands Cross Country Jam on Saturday in Las Vegas, N.M. Glover paced Panhandle State to a second-place finish.
Martin, a sophomore from Wichita, Kan., reeled in SAC runner of the week for the second time in three weeks. He posted a mark 17 seconds better than the previous meet with his time of 26:26 in the 8,000-meter race of the Rim Rock Farm Classic on Saturday in Lawrence, Kan. Martin placed 55th among the 189-runner field.
Other men’s runner of the week nominee: Nehemiah Soap, Oklahoma City.
