Winfield, Kan.—The Panhandle State men’s cross country team joined a 20-team field of 180 runners at the NAIA Mid-States Classic hosted by Southwestern College on Saturday.
Senior Philip Kirongo led the Aggies in the eight-kilometer race with a finish time of 30:04.3 to place 129 individually. Korby Jenkins (152) and Alexis Lopez (153) followed with respective times of 31:47.2 and 31:49.7. Rounding out the men’s team were Baruc Ortega (32:39.5) and Firas Ghazouani (32:48.3) who finished 163 and 166. As a team the Aggies posted a 19th place finish. Oklahoma City’s Oscar KipKoros took the individual title with an 8K finish of 24:38.0. The Stars also collected the team title.
Both the men’s and women’s teams will compete in the Sooner Athletic Conference meet on Saturday, Nov. 3 at Woodson Park in Oklahoma City.
