Goodwell, Okla. — An annual fan favorite, the 2018 Oklahoma Panhandle State University Chili Cook-off is poised to be the best yet with yummy fun for the whole family. Treat your taste buds to some of the Panhandle’s finest chili on Saturday, November 3, 2018.
From cooking to taste testing, we have a place for you! The event kicks-off at 11 a.m. with taste testing in the tailgate zone. Entries are free for the contest. The entry deadline is November 1st and can be done online or by fax. Each entrant must provide three gallons of chili and may be asked to sample their own entry. Entries will be evaluated by a select group of judges and a people’s choice award will be awarded as well. Winners will be announced and recognized at halftime of the football game against Texas College. All taste testing is free and donations will be accepted.
A group of musicians from Oklahoma formed in 2014 called Jackson Tillman will be playing during the tailgate for all the participants enjoyment.
With entries reaching an all-time high last year, this year is expected to surpass the last meaning more varieties and types of chili to meet everyone’s preferences. For more information and a complete set of rules, visit https://opsu.edu/Events/Chili-Cook-Off/.
Entry into the Chili Cook Off does not include a tent reservation. To reserve a tent, please contact Mariah Smith at mariah.smith@opsu.edu.
