Color Guard Tryouts this Saturday

Goodwell, Okla.— Sensational news is sweeping across the Panhandle with the reintroduction of the Color Guard team to Oklahoma Panhandle State University. For the first time in numerous years, Panhandle State will display a color guard team and now is your chance to become a piece of something great! Color guard is a part of the marching band (which was also reintroduced this semester), but does not exclusively work with the marching band. Once football season is over, the team transitions into indoor performances for basketball games to their own song choices. They can also be seen regularly at Aggie events across campus during the school year.

Color guard is about bringing the music to life. Through costumes, different flags, and dance, each individual teammate helps to tell the story of the music. As a member of the color guard team, you become like family, working together to create a perfect routine through synchronization and dedicated practice.

Tryouts for the Aggie Color Guard are this Saturday, August 18th from 9:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. You will need to bring your own 32 counts of flag work and will learn the fight song on site. Everyone is welcome and there is no experience required. Sunaed Ramirez, a member of the color guard team, says, “to me, color guard is for everyone because it’s something that you learn.” Practice flags will be available to check out for rehearsal. Scholarship awards are available for up to $2500 for the 2018-2019 school year.
