Campus Departments Named Certified Healthy Departments

Goodwell, Okla. — In March, Oklahoma Panhandle State University received Merit Certification as a Certified Healthy Campus. In addition, several departments on campus applied this spring and have been named 2018 Certified Healthy Departments.

The new departments include: Admissions/Registrar, Business Office/Human Resources, Education Department, Noble Cultural and Activity Center, and Student Affairs.

Human Resource Director Dana Collins said, “As a Wellness committee member, I am thrilled more OPSU departments are taking the initiative to become healthier departments. 2018 is the third year the Business Office/Human Resources offices have met the criteria to become a Certified Healthy Department and I’m pleased to see more OPSU departments applying and meeting the criteria too. I believe by working as a team through encouraging words or just being there for each other, the department will be happier and successful. I hope more OPSU departments apply for the Certified Health Department ”

Certified Healthy Department was created in 2011 to recognize work groups at OSU Stillwater and align with Oklahoma’s “Certified Healthy” Program. It was expanded to the Oklahoma Cooperative Extension Service Offices in 2014, and to the OSU/A&M system in 2015. By becoming a Certified Healthy Department you are providing a healthy environment for faculty, staff, students, and visitors, thereby supporting the culture for an overall healthier university. By becoming Certified Healthy, a department provides an environment to foster healthy lifestyle choices while at work.
