Annual Belly Open Golf Tournament Set for August 3-4

Goodwell, Okla.—Calling all golfers! Mark your calendars for Friday and Saturday, August 3-4, as the 2018 Belly Open Golf Tournament is back and better than ever.

Panhandle State and Aggie Athletics are proud to present a two-day affair fit for golfers and non-golfers alike. Friday players can take part in an alternate-shot skins game starting at 5 p.m. at Sunset Hills Golf Club in Guymon, with an entry fee of $25 each. Later that evening golfers, guests and the general public are then welcome to enjoy a fun Friday night out at the Pickle Creek Event Center. The Aggie Sunset Social will take place at 8 p.m. and will include dinner, drinks, live music and the ever-popular silent auction. Tickets for this stand-alone event are available for $20 each; golfers receive one ticket with registration.

Saturday’s main event is a four-man scramble at Sunset Hills with side games, cash prizes and lunch provided at the turn. Registration opens at 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at 9. The cost for registration is $75 per person for Saturday’s round, or $100 each for those wishing to participate in both days’ activities. This year participants are able to pay for Aggie Sunset Social tickets and silent auction items via the Ticket Roar service which allows for credit card payments along with cash or checks.

This year’s silent auction event is shaping up to be the best yet, with a wide-array of items already in place. As the main fundraiser for Aggie Athletics, all proceeds from both the tournament and Sunset Social will go directly towards facility upgrades, recruiting support and improving the overall experience for student athletes at Panhandle State. Individuals and businesses wishing to support this great cause may do so by way of hole sponsorships or item donations for the silent auction.

“Events like these are essential to the sustainability of this University,” asserts Panhandle State President Dr. Tim Faltyn. “Not only are we able to showcase the people and programs of Panhandle State, but they allow us to create connections and build relationships outside of the campus community. It is through these relationships that mutual support can help all parties grow and flourish.” Faltyn adds, “We thoroughly enjoy getting out and intermixing with the community. It’s inspiring for all of us.”
