Goodwell, Okla. — The Oklahoma Panhandle State University Annual Agriculture Awards Banquet was held May 9, 2018 at 7 p.m. at the Oklahoma Panhandle Research and Extension Center in honor of the School of Agriculture students.
Interim Dean of Agriculture Davin Winger welcomed everyone to the banquet and a delicious meal catered by Hunny’s of Guymon, Okla. was enjoyed by all following remarks from University President Dr. Tim Faltyn and an invocation by Class of 2018 graduate MaKenze Twyman.
Special departmental awards were given to outstanding students in each area of the School of Agriculture.
Agronomy- Tyler Meyeres
Ag Education- Josh Frost
Agribusiness- Taten Schlochtermeier
Animal Science- Kristin Allen
Special recognition was given to the students graduating from the School of Agriculture Class of 2018 with honors. Students must have a 3.5 to 3.74 grade-point average (GPA) to graduate cum laude, 3.75 to 3.99 GPA to graduate magna cum laude, and a 4.0 GPA to graduate summa cum laude.

Agricultural Education:
Sarah Brady, magna cum laude
Josh Frost, magna cum laude
Agronomy:
Mary McCall, cum laude
Tyler Meyeres, magna cum laude
Additionally, special recognition was given to three graduating seniors accepted to the Oklahoma State University Center for Veterinary Health Sciences, Kyler Jenkins, Janna Ruether, and Bethany Schultz.
Recognition was also given to members of the Panhandle State Agriculture department’s teams and clubs including: Crops Judging team, Alpha Zeta, Collegiate FFA, Block and Bridle, and Women in Agriculture.
Closing remarks were given by Dr. Curtis Bensch.
