National Walking Day is Wednesday

Goodwell, Okla. — The first Wednesday in April is National Walking Day and Oklahoma Panhandle State University would like to invite you to join the fun.

The event is sponsored by the American Heart Association in an effort to remind people about the health benefits of taking a walk. All Panhandle State employees and students as well as the public are encouraged to meet at the Walking Trail on Wednesday, April 4th anytime from noon to 1 p.m. to walk. Participants are encouraged to walk for 30 minutes.

Here are a couple of ways to make the time more enjoyable: Take a friend to pass the time, wear comfortable clothes, make sure to stretch, drink plenty of water, move your arms, and have good posture. The Panhandle State Wellness Committee will provide bottled water to the participants.

Feel free to post photos to social media and use the hashtag #NationalWalkingDay and #WeArePanhandle.

Grab a friend and take steps to an even healthier you!
