Winfield, Kan.—The Panhandle State men’s golf team finished their regular season strong by placing third at the Moundbuilders Spring Classic hosted by Southwestern College Monday and Tuesday.
Led by junior Sergi Teller who placed seventh overall with scores of 82 in each round, the Aggie men tallied team scores of 326 and 345 for the tournament. Junior Lucas Heathington (79, 89) and freshman Karsten Harrison (80, 88) matched with tournament totals of 168 to tie for eighth individually. Joshua Rouse (88, 86) and Seth McMinn (85, 91) kept at close range, ranking 21 and T22 respectively among the 32-player pack. The women’s team also traveled to Winfield with two golfers competing among an 18-player field. Rylee Higgins (98, 99) fell just short of the leaderboard at 11th individually and Bayleigh Myers finished at 17 with improved scores of 133, 129.
Ottawa University (305, 326) took the team title for the men’s team with Cameron Cross (75, 80) earning the first place finish as an individual. Abby Bertholf won the women’s tournament and helped secure the title for her team from Southwestern College.
The Panhandle State men’s golf team will wrap up their year with an appearance at the Sooner Athletic Conference Golf Championship April 23-24 in Oklahoma City. The Aggie women have one tournament left on their schedule, sending them to Oklahoma City for the O-City Spring Classic April 16-17.
