Rough Road Trip for Women’s Golf

Wichita Falls, Texas—In their first tournament of the spring, the Panhandle State women’s golf team faced a fierce field at the Midwestern State Invitational Monday and Tuesday.

The 5,843-yard par 72 Maroon Course at the Wichita Falls Country Club proved problematic, leaving the Aggies last among the 19 teams competing. Two of the four Aggie golfers withdrew before completing the 36-hole tournament, with Rylee Higgins and D’Lanee Doyle wrapping up both rounds and finishing T94 and 96 respectively in the field of 98 players.

Arkansas Tech took the team title with round scores of 311 and 313 to finish 48 over par. Abigail Rigsby of Oklahoma Christian earned the first place finish individually, closing out at five over par with score of 73 and 76.

Both the men’s and women’s teams will break from play during Spring Break and will return to competition March 26-27 as each is set to take part in the Kansas Wesleyan Spring Invitational in Salina, Kan.
