Images Art Club Welcomes Back Art Graduate

Goodwell, Okla. — The Paul Farrell Memorial Art Auction is a way to showcase the potential of what Oklahoma Panhandle State University’s (OPSU) art students have to give to the art community. But we don’t just stop at the students that currently attend, we also give our alums a chance to show off their skill. So, basically, the Paul Farrell Memorial Art Auction is a congregation of what Images Art Club has to offer, both from alumni and students, with a few crew members work to put a cherry on top!

This year we will add to the compilation of generations by bringing in Panhandle State’s very own graduate, sculptor, and prankster, Danielle Robinson. To all the staff members, Danielle was characterized to be an “extremely outgoing girl with a love for both pranks and art.” Though, conversely, her pranks were quite amusing with her usage of the Art Department’s plastic skeleton in most of them, her art was even better. And even though she is now said to be a “well rounded” artist (Brent Shoulders). You can definitely tell that her experiences at the University have brought her a long way.

The humor in this is, Danielle did not start out with any interest in sculptural artwork. Her focus leaned more towards the 2D side. However, over time she began to grow a love for all art forms, both 2D and 3D. Now, she has made quite a name for herself in the art world. After graduating from Panhandle State with a degree in both psychiatry and art, she went on to Fort Hays to receive her MFA- where she now resides as a professor. Now this already makes her quite accomplished, however she didn’t stop there. Her personal works of art have been in numerous exhibitions and three art solo shows across the United States.

Her art itself, is inspired by her natural surroundings. Her abstractions of landscape terrain use a multitude of environmental concepts relative to erosion, drought, and rising seas. She then infused the landscape abstractions to resemble an industrial remedy to environmental problems in existence today. She has particularly strong skills in her bronze work. Some of the examples include the collocated large-scale, bronze sculpture “Friends”-which depicts two golfers, “History of Hays, Doorstops”, and a life size bronze sculpture of “St. Nicholas.”

These are just a few of her works, though. In fact, those who attend the Paul Farrell Memorial Art Auction will have a chance to bid on one of them, along with our already marvelous list of art entries. You don’t want to miss this.

The 18th annual Paul Farrell Memorial Art Auction is Friday, March 2nd in Guymon, Okla. at the Pickle Creek building. The doors will open at 6 p.m. for social hour and the silent auction for miniature pieces will follow at 6:30 p.m. The live auction starts at 8 p.m. For more information, visit the Paul Farrell Memorial Art Auction facebook page.
