Job Summary:

The Marketing Coordinator is a key team contributor to communications projects across the campus. The role uses strategic and tactical expertise in developing and leading digital communications initiatives and campaigns. The Marketing Coordinator manages and enhances digital channels and platforms (social media, websites, e-communications, etc.). This role is also responsible for overseeing the creation and maintenance of OPSU’s website. The role optimizes the front-end operations of the website and social media, ensuring current and engaging content, and strategic alignment.

Responsibilities:

• Create content (digital, print graphics, etc.) for OPSU marketing and design
• Helping to maintain official OPSU social media accounts, including creating and posting new content, maintaining a social media calendar and library, and responding to comments, messages, and mentions as needed
• Works with Directors, department heads, and deans to develop digital marketing strategies to ensure accurate and timely updates to social media and the website
• Writing and messaging for business correspondence, public relations, advertising, marketing, and social media
• Develops and executes an annual digital marketing and communications strategy alongside the Director of Campus Communications
• Planning, implementing, managing, and monitoring OPSU’s website
• Making routine content updates to the website, including edits to text and uploads of imagery and documents, using a content management system (WordPress)
• Responding to and troubleshooting all website issues
• Identifying and responding to all website security breaches
• Establishes digital engagement metrics: uses web/social network data and tracking systems to compile online engagement reports and monitor activity/success in the online presences/research and message testing
• Reviewing reports from web analytics software to track website traffic and activity levels over time
• Conducting content audits to eliminate redundant and duplicate information on the website
• Collaborating with staff and management to ensure that all marketing for official OPSU social media and the website aligns with brand strategy and meets the university’s standards
• Drives environment of continuous process improvement/automation
• Must have excellent attention to detail, outstanding problem-solving skills, and content creation and writing skills
• Know web tools like HTML, CSS, and Javascript
• Developing and implementing effective SEO strategies to improve website rankings in search engine results pages (SERPs)
• Must have a strong work ethic and lead by example.
• Must be a professional, credible, and respected representative of the institution internally and in the community
• Demonstrated willingness and ability to act ethically and socially responsible
• Must be able to lift more than 50-lb. objects; frequent bending, stooping, and walking.
• Can be exposed to a variety of weather conditions for periods of time.
• Ability to communicate in a courteous manner
• Other duties as assigned by the Director of Campus Communications or designee.

Qualifications:

Technical skills:
Must be proficient in WordPress. Creating new webpages and editing existing webpages.

Communication:
Must have oral and written communication skills to interact with deans, department heads, and colleagues. Approaches issues and opportunities with a solution-oriented mindset

Work Environment:
Work in an office environment during regular business hours, although the Marketing Coordinator might be required to work evenings and weekends to meet deadlines or to respond to emergencies. Most of the time, work is in front of a computer, enhancing the digital channels and platforms (social media and website), designing web pages, and keeping up to date with trends and technologies. There will also be times spent meeting with departments head, managers, and colleagues to develop and lead digital communications initiatives and campaigns.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Required: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, advertising, communication, or another related field.
Preferred: 2 years of work experience in marketing
