Job Summary:

The Director of the Hispanic Student Center (HSC) will lead the cultural community space designed to serve the needs of all latino/a students and the communities at large. This position is a crossroad of academic, personal, and professional growth for Oklahoma Panhandle State University students interested in Latinx and Latin American cultures. Through advising, leadership development, academic, social and cultural programming HSC expands student access to the University's resources to achieve their fullest potential. The Director enthusiastically provides general support and assistance to students, student organizations, faculty, parents and other University constituencies; The Director leads students through the provision of co-curricular, cultural, and social programs for students and student organizations with a specific focus on Latino diasporic cultures.


• Partner with student organizations to create and assess signature programming including community outreach, Latino professional Pathways program, Collegiate Leadership Development program, and the Latino Dialogue Institute.
• Responsible for working with the Associate Director to create programs aimed at the social and cultural awareness of Latino cultures.
• Supervise and assist the flow of students who utilize the Center's resources and services. Build strong bonds with alumni to enlist support in the Center's recruitment and retention efforts.
• Work closely with other resource centers in order to create collaborative programs and resources for students.
• Build alliance with the community in order to provide additional resources, services, and referrals to students.
• Develop ties and partnerships with local high schools in the surrounding area to plan HSC community outreach.
• Serve as a consultant to the schools, and other University departments in regards to student transition to OPSU.
• Pursue grant and other resource development opportunities.
• Develop and support OPSU to be an inclusive university for all students.
• Must have a strong work ethic and lead by example.
• Must be a professional, credible and respected representative of the institution, both internally and in the community
• Demonstrated willingness and ability to act ethically and socially responsible
• Must be able to lift more than 50-lb. objects; frequent bending, stooping, and walking.
• Can be exposed to a variety of weather conditions for periods of time.
• Ability to communicate in a courteous manner
• Other duties as assigned by Project Director or designee.

• Demonstrated ability to create and administer effective programs and services for a diverse Latino student population.
• Experience supervising staff, working independently and collaboratively, and solving problems with grace under pressure.
• Demonstrated strong knowledge of Latino community required.
• Flexible attitude and ability to work nights and weekends as necessary.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Advanced graduate degree in a relevant field and 3-5 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
