Job Summary:

Provide piano accompaniment for students and faculty as needed. Teach piano classes.

Responsibilities:

• Accompany private voice and instrument students for last half-hour of at least 2 lessons before a performance
• Accompany recital students for last half-hour of lessons
• Be present at all master classes
• Be present at monthly half-hour music forums
• Play for end-of-semester juries and recitals (vocal and instrumental)
• Accompany Monday night university choir rehearsals, faculty recitals, and Chamber Singer rehearsals/performances
• Support musical rehearsals/performances
• Teach ear training theory classes, private piano lessons, and class piano. Accompanist may request fees from students for accompaniment services beyond OPSU’s stipend.
• Teach music history or advanced theory courses as needed on a rotational basis.
• Must have a strong work ethic and lead by example.
• Must be a professional, credible and respected representative of the institution internally and in the community.
• Must be able to lift more than 50lb. objects; frequent bending, stooping, and walking.
• Can be exposed to a variety of weather conditions for periods of time.
• Ability to communicate in a courteous manner
• Demonstrated willingness and ability to act ethically and socially responsible.
Other duties as assigned by Dean, College of Arts and Education, and Art Dept. Chair or designee.

Qualifications:

• Master’s degree required, Doctorate and collegiate teaching preferred.
• Experience serving as an accompanist and be proficient at the range of piano styles.
• Art song familiarity is required.
